[Home Theater Network HDAV.com.cn] When purchasing a projector, in addition to focusing on the resolution, brightness, contrast and other parameters of the projector, it is also necessary to understand the focal length of the projection and the size parameters of the liquid crystal to facilitate calculation of the projection distance and Picture size. Then how should the Projection Screen size and the distance from the projector to the screen be calculated? Is there any way to get the data by yourself? Below, Xiaobian will introduce you to the commonly used calculation formula.

Calculation formula of projector to screen distance

Minimum projection distance (m) = minimum focal length (m) x screen size (inches) 液晶 LCD size (inches)

Maximum projection distance (m) = maximum focal length (m) x screen size (inches) 液晶 LCD size (inches)

Know the projection distance to get the screen size

Maximum projection screen (m) = projection distance (m) x LCD size (inches) 最小 minimum focal length (m)

Minimum projection screen (m) = projection distance (m) x LCD size (inches) ÷ maximum focal length (m)

E.g:

1. The focal length of the Toshiba TLP-S71 is 26.5mm~31.5mm. The size of the LCD is 0.7-inch LCD panel, which requires an 85-inch screen.

Minimum projection distance (m) = 0.0265 m x 85 inches ÷ 0.7 inches = 3.217 m

The maximum projection distance (m) = 0.0315 m x 85 inches ÷ 0.7 inches = 3.825 m

2. Known: The focal length of EPSON EMP-6000 is 24.0 - 38.2 mm, the size of the LCD is 0.8 inch LCD panel, and the projection distance is 4 meters.

Seeking: The largest projected picture and the smallest projected picture.

Maximum projection screen (inches) = 4 m x 0.8 inches ÷ 0.024 m = 133.3 inches

Minimum projection screen (inches) = 4 m x 0.8 inches ÷ 0.0382 m = 83 inches

As mentioned above, the projection screen size, we need to select the projection screen size according to the projection screen size. The screen size we are talking about is actually the length of the screen diagonal, in inches. Generally, the scale of China is meter, and the length and the section are convenient, so it is necessary to know the screen width (meter) and screen height (meter) according to the screen size (inches).

Length unit conversion formula: 1 inch = 2.54 cm = 0.0254 m

The ratio of the width and height of a normal screen is 4:3, so it is obtained by the Pythagorean theorem:

Screen width (m) = screen size (inches) x 0.0254 m / inch x 0.8 = screen size ÷ 50

Screen height (m) = screen size (inches) x 0.0254 m / inch x 0.6 = screen size ÷ 66

The unit obtained is meters

According to this formula:

The width of a 60-inch screen is 60÷50=1.2 (m) and the height is 60÷66=0.909 (m)

The width of a 150-inch screen is 150÷50=3 (m) and the height is 150÷66=2.27 (m)

The width of a 200-inch screen is 200÷50=4 (meters) and the height is 200÷66=3 (m)

According to the formula:

Minimum projection distance = 14.4*100/0.63=2.92m

Maximum projection distance=22.1*100/0.63=3.5m

The above is a common method for calculating the size of the projection screen and the distance from the projector to the screen.
